Our presenter is radio DJ and author Simon Mayo, who describes the VDrs as "such an inspired idea".
The Appeal, a weekly programme highlighting the work of a charity, will go out on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday at 7.54am and 9.25pm and again on Thursday 23 January at 3.27pm.
