Are you up for a sporting challenge?!

Whatever your goal, you can have fun whilst raising funds! Why not seek out an event near you and take the opportunity to raise sponsorship funds for us. There are lots of activities you can do while helping the Virtual Doctors!

Whether you want to trek, bike, or paddle you can find great activities here: Charity Challenge, Action Challenge!

Find an event that appeals to you.  Tell the organiser you want to raise funds for the Virtual Doctors and then let us know and we will be pleased to offer our advice and support.

There is a great selection and will be prepared to discuss organising something bespoke if you have something in mind. These are just suggestions.  You can sign up for any local sporting event in your area, let us know and become part of our team. We'll support you every step of the way.

Here is a sponsor form to download nominating Virtual Doctors as your charity of choice; please advise us when you have done this so we can support you with promoting your page on our social media platforms & our quarterly newsletter!

Why not get your company involved? This is a great way for small or large teams of employees to raise vital funds for the Virtual Doctor service whilst promoting co-operation, team building and, most importantly, fun!

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2021

In October 2021 Hannaa Bobat & Katie Lewis ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon to help us raise funds and to have fun doing so. Katie has loved running for 25 years thanks to her Mum. At work she helps global pharma companies to accelerate the speed for which they create and commercialize lifesaving drugs for patients. In her free time, she enjoys running after her son, traveling, and volunteering with the Healthcare Businesswoman’s Association.

Hannaa started work as a Virtual Doctor during lockdown and hasn't looked back! Now she's signed up for her first half marathon, to help keep this vital work going. When asked why she wanted to run, Hanna said "I am running for The Virtual Doctors so that every step I run will be one less step for our patients in Africa to get access to healthcare.”

Together they raised £1817.50 for the Virtual Doctors, what an amazing achievement!!

Three Peak Challenge 2021

Well done and thank you to John Lang, who completed the Three Peak Challenge in June in memory of his late father Ian Lang, raising nearly twice his target and close to £1,000 for the Virtual Doctors; this sum enables us to set up and support a clinic for an entire year!

Scottish 500 2020

2020 hasn’t been an easy year for sports challenges and fundraisers so massive shout-out to Zanna Currie, Ramjo Ramjiani and Will Kay from the Eye Department in Sheffield Teaching Hospital: over 8 days in September they have cycled the Scottish 500 (miles!), a circular route from Inverness across to the west coast, up to Ullapool, Durmnes, across the bare top of the country to John o' Groats and back down the East Coast. In the process they raised an amazing £990 for the Virtual Doctors. We are so impressed and grateful, what an achievement.

Royal Parks Half 2018 & 2019

Runners raised sponsorship by taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2018 and 2019 raising almost £20,000. The superbly organised 13.1 mile route was lined with spectators despite the appalling weather and we want to thank all those who cheered them on too! This is the first year we are involved and we will definitely be back! Commiserations to the 3 runners who had to drop out with injury or illness but well done for still doing so well with your sponsorship!

Annecy Challenge 2018

Mollie Donohoe & Phil Courtney (pictured centre) decided to do something even more strenuous - their 510 mile Annecy Team Challenge took place over 4 days in October 2018. An amazing achievement! the Virtual Doctors will receive 50% of the sponsorship raised with 50% going to the organisers Challenge Adventure Charity’s nominated charity. It’s not only the cycles that took them to great heights. Their online page total is already over £1,000 and still rising!

A past volunteer, Dr Fran Fieldhouse, (previously our Medical Team Lead), ran a total of 67 mile over two weekends in April and May 2018, raising over £3,000 - more than the triple of her original target!

There will be more updates to come! Thank you to all our wonderful supporters who do so much to help.
